Federal Civil Procedure

A guide to resources available at the Mabie Law Library for Federal Civil Procedure

Local Rules

The rules of court can usually be found in either the annotated or unannotated codes (or both) for the jurisdiction in which the court is located.  Each set is arranged differently, so you will have to familiarize yourself with the set in order to locate the rules you need.

Court rules can also be located by searching OSCAR by subject.  Use the subject heading: COURT RULES.  If you are looking for rules of a specific jurisdiction search the subject heading "COURT RULES – [JURISDICTION]" (i.e., if you want to find California court rules, look under "COURT RULES – CALIFORNIA".

The Rules of Court for Federal Court can be found in: United States Code (U.S.C.) (KF 62) (unannotated), the United States Code Annotated (U.S.C.A.) (KF 62 W4), and the United States Code Service (U.S.C.S.) (KF 62 L38).  The Appendix to Title 18 contains Criminal Rules, the Appendix to Title 28 contains Civil and Appellate Rules.
